A Naples resident Don Epstein enjoyed a long career as a television writer and producer. Now retired, Don will share humorous, true stories and provide a rare behind-the-scenes perspective about some of the biggest names in show business, including Marlon Brando, Dolly Parton, Bob Barker, Betty White, Willie Nelson, Dinah Shore, Diana Ross, and scores of other A-list celebrities.
Don Epstein is a retired television writer and producer. For more than 45 years, he helped create some of TV's highest-rated annual "event" specials while also working on many series and a dozen or more game shows. For more than 25 years Don wrote the scripts for the Country Music Awards, hosted by Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Reba McEntire and other country superstars, and for a decade he provided the scripts for the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, hosted by Bob Barker. Among his other network credits are the Daytime Emmy Awards, Doug Henning's Magic on Broadway, the 30th anniversary of TV's long-running College Bowl, several star-studded anniversary celebrations of the Grand Ole Opry, and a two hour tribute to country comedienne Minnie Pearl. He wrote multiple episodes of Ralph Edwards' classic This Is Your Life series, and produced and wrote the holiday special Hats Off to America, starring Larry Hagman. After working on game shows like The $25,000 Pyramid, he created and produced Inspiration, Please! television's first and only game devoted to the world's religions, which aired on cable for more than three years.
