Greatest Directors of All Time: Martin Scorsese
No name is more deeply admired in today’s active directors’ roster than Scorsese. The New York City native is one of the most knowledgeable directors on the history of cinema, and his films reflect that deep intellect. He has shaped contemporary crime movies in his cutting-edge films Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Casino and The Departed. Yet Scorsese’s topics are as varied as any director with such diverse films as New York, New York, Raging Bull, The Color of Money, Gangs of New York and Aviator. Scorsese’s visual impact will be addressed through clips of his great films as well as his unique directing techniques. Instructor: Gary Olsen
