Introduction to Rock Art of the American Southwest

Humans have been placing images on natural rock surfaces for tens of thousands of years. We will discuss the types of images made by cultures of the American Southwest from prehistoric to historic times, considering structure and placement as well as possible motivations and circumstances surrounding the creation of these images.
