In the Obama and Trump administrations, Ambassador Llorens led the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, the largest in the world with a staff of 8,500 representing twenty-one U.S. government agencies. Recently retired after 36 years of diplomatic service, Ambassador Llorens is uniquely able to discuss the history of our involvement in Afghanistan, his personal experiences in the conflict-ridden nation, current efforts by the Trump Administration to achieve peace and what is still at stake after these many years.
