"There have been several revolutions of taste in English literature. Through them all only two have never been affected by the shifts of fashion: Shakespeare's and Jane Austen's" said the critic, Edmund Wilson. Two-hundred years after they were written, Jane Austen's books are still critical and popular successes. Who was this woman who remains such a favorite years after she wrote her books and what is it about her art that has made her books speak to us across the centuries? Join us as we examine the life of this timeless author. Instructor: Mary Lou Williams
