Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio, was one of the most important artists in 17th century Italy. Who was this man? He was a dear friend of cardinals of the church and much in demand for his religious paintings, but also a dangerous criminal – a street fighter and murderer. We will examine the work of this famous painter along with his mysterious behavior.
