The Origins of the Classical Symphony $20
July 26 at 1:30pm – 3pm, Thursday
Have you ever wondered who wrote symphonies before Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven? Who invented it and what brought about its popularity? How and where did the symphony develop? In this course, we will survey several works that led to the development of one of the most important genres in classical music. We will also examine how these earlier works influenced the symphonies of the great masters such as Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. Instructor: Dr. Thomas Cimarusti
