Time Lapsed Detroit: Images & History

Detroit photographer and historian Arnold Collens has been photographing and documenting the changes in Detroit for over a decade.  His portfolio of time-lapsed images include the rust and the decay of decline; they show the dismantling of the city; and highlight, with prideful joy, the beauty of a continuing rebirth. We’ll use these images to examine Detroit’s blending of historic restoration and new development. Our focus will be Downtown to Midtown - Eastern Market to Corktown. Instructor: Arnold Collens
