Autonomous Weapons – An Interactive Discussion about Weapons That Can Engage Targets without a Human in Command

Description: This presentation and discussion will focus on the status and development of autonomous weapons in the world, and on the attempts to promote and ban such weapons. The discussion will be directed to robotic development, how robotic weapons could become autonomous, and the benefits and potential liabilities of promoting and banning autonomous weapons. Options with respect to status and development of America’s offensive and defensive weapons will be presented. Some of the fundamental technologies involved as well as their relationship to future commercial developments will be explored.
