"BLOOD DIAMONDS"
Blood diamonds (also called conflict diamonds) are diamonds mined in war zones, then sold to finance insurgencies or warlord activities. Diamonds mined during the recent civil wars in Angola, Côte d’Ivoire, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, Ghana, and Guinea Bissau have been given that label and are the focus of the 2006 Leonardo di Caprio thriller of the same name. Tony Hall, three-time Nobel Prize nominee, former Peace Corps Volunteer, former ambassador and member of the US Congress from Ohio, has had first-hand experience as chair or member of numerous committees related to poverty, hunger, foreign aid and will share his gripping first-hand experience related to "blood diamonds."
