Exploring 2000 Years of Middle East Culture And Conflict
Description: This presentation and discussion will include a review of the Roman Empire and its struggles over several centuries with the Eastern (modern Iran) Empire, how the shift in power evolved, how the nomadic Arabs came into power, the explosion of Islam and its conquests from 700 ad to 1400 AD, the rise of the Ottoman Empire, and its collapse in the early 20th century. The presentation will include some of the factors attributed to the rise and fall of empires with a special focus on the rise and fall of the Ottoman Empire. Participants will be actively engaged in adding to the discussion with questions and comments.
