imgTIC - FISHING WITH THE FAMILY

A mother exclaimed that "fishing is just an excuse men came up with to sit by the pond and do nothing"  (forgive me.... her words).  Avid fisherman might dispute that, but when you're in Southwest Florida it may be good to find some time to "do nothing".

Experienced anglers from the Brooks Fishing Club will provide a fun-packed discussion of fishing right here in your own backyard... the ponds within the Brooks communities.    The focus will be on fishing "basics".   Everything you (and the family) should know to enjoy this great amenity available to all Brooks residents.  Family not visiting? ..... get out and spend an afternoon by yourself relaxing by the water.

Topics include:

  • maps of where you're allowed to fish at The Commons Club and within each community
  • suggested equipment (don't forget the long-nosed pliers)
  • preferred tackle, lures, knots, techniques, etc.
  • safety tips when fishing with the grandkids
  • types of fish you might catch (yes Virginia, there are some BIG ones)
  • ecology
  • Q and A
