TIC - Lyndon B. Johnson and the American Dream - Rescheduled for April 24
Lyndon B. Johnson and the American Dream
Doris Kearns Goodwin intimate biography of Lyndon Johnson is a wonderful portrayal of a man who was challenged with leadership during the turbulent 60's. Her examination of Johnson's life and relationships allow her to connect aspects of his political success throughout his career - the same characteristics which led him to simultaneously tackle the ambitions of the "Great Society" while navigating Vietnam. We will be covering material from Doris Kearns Goodwin's book "The American Dream" about LBJ and the book and podcasts "Lady Bird Johnson: In Plain Sight" by Julia Sweig.
Discussion will cover LBJ's early years, his time in the US House and Senate and then his years in the White House along with a look at Lady Bird's time as First Lady.
Moderated by Mary Tousignant with discussion by co-panelists Rollie Crawford, Jan Johnson, Ruthmarie Mitsch and Mo Winograd
