TIC: Our Ancestors in Ourselves (Part 1)
Description: Maureen Kenney, a retired history teacher, will share her exploration into her ancestors with a focus on the essential question that has driven her research and journey of understanding. In addition to reading a very short excerpt of her book-in-progress, she will address issues such as: getting started; following a trail; finding the focus; staying on course; getting it done. Interested more in discussing than lecturing, she will guide participants to help answer the question “How have my ancestors contributed to who I am?” Attendees are asked to bring a photograph, an artifact, or a specific memory about an ancestor(s) and will have the opportunity to work in small groups to share a few thoughts about our past.
Designed for: Those interested in learning approaches to exploring family history and the social contexts of individual families and society.
Facilitator: Maureen Kenney
