Maureen Kenney will open the discussion with stories that led her to research and write her book on the migration of her family from Ireland to Massachusetts, focusing on the historical and socioeconomic context of leaving one land and establishing a new life in another land. Ruthmarie Mitsch will talk about the many surprises uncovered in her research into the Austrian roots of her father's family, both at the local level and at the international level with the help of professional genealogists.
