UNDERSTANDING OURSELVES THROUGH THE LENS OF OUR ANCESTORS

During our golden years, asking ourselves "Where do we come from? How did we get here? And what will our legacy be?" are all apt questions. Maureen Kenney's retirement mission is devoted to exploring the lives and times of her ancestors and family of origin. She says, "I thought my four brothers and I were quite unique until I studied the patterns of the Irish immigrants during the industrial revolution. Understanding my roots has given meaning and context to my journey. Researching the tales has allowed me to understand and bequeath to my grandchildren the stories of those who came before." Maureen, a former American history teacher and published author, offers interactive workshops that help beginners and experienced family historians uncover methods and a process to guide our recording of the stories from our past so they are not lost to our future.
