Old Florida: Everglades City and Chokoloskee

"Old Florida" 45 minutes from Naples.  Lots of history, including the Calusa and Seminoles, post-Civil War settlements, Barron Collier, formation of Collier County, Everglades National Park, construction of the Tamiami Trail, drug smuggling, and the murder of Edgar Watson.  Everglades City (now 300 people) at one time was larger than Naples and was the Collier County seat,  It even had a trolley and the county's first bank.  Today, Everglades City and Chokoloskee offer many great opportunities for day trips.  We will talk about the history and what to see and do. Paul Pacter spent over 50 years in the accounting profession -- most of that working for organizations that develop US and international accounting standards.  His work took him to over 70 countries, plus he has had holidays in around 20 more.  He received his PhD in 1967 and is a CPA.  He has published several hundred professional articles and seven books.
