Great Decisions Disucssion Series

Great Decisions at The Brooks

Great Decisions is an international affairs group discussion program and is sponsored by the Naples Council on World Affairs (NCWA). The purpose is to strengthen our understanding and knowledge of timely global issues that are vital to U.S. foreign policy.

We gather at TCC Enrichment Center in small discussion groups that meet once a week for 2 hours for eight consecutive weeks starting in mid- January 2025.  We currently have the following openings for anyone interested in intellectual stimulation with a deeper dive into relevant global issues that affect the world we live in. Discussions are lively and respectful. So many of our participants have experiences working and traveling all over the world which always provides a rich texture to each discussion.  It is a passport to global affairs for veterans and beginners.

Openings include:

 Tuesday 1:00 to 3:00 pm        29 spaces

Tuesday 12:00 to 2:00 pm       28 spaces

Wednesday 4:00 to 6:00 pm    18 spaces

Thursday 10:00 am to 12:00 pm   14 spaces

Topics we covered in 2024 ranged from the Mideast to China to NATO

 Great Decisions 2024 Topics
Recognized experts on these topics are invited to write articles that are included in a briefing book. The articles provide historical perspective and current information on these 8 global issues, alternative policy options and questions to stimulate group discussion.  Basic preparation for each session includes reading the information provided in the briefing book. Each group has a leader who facilitates the discussion. All leaders are NCWA members dedicated to providing a nonpartisan forum and endeavor to include each member in the discussion.
